Gary Davidson is a musical therapist who has played in many bands during his performance years. Gary has toured Greece, England and France playing in a variety of venues to capacity audiences, eager to share his eclectic repertoire of orignial songs and crowd favourites. The musical experience ranges from Michael Franks, The Eagles and The Bodines to Paul Simon, Steely Dan and Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks. Gary plays the world famous Ovation semi acoustic guitar and provides the lead vocal.
Richard Ghent teamed up with Gary a considerable time ago when they were teenagers; this is not documented because it was before writing was invented. Experimentation with harmonies was a prime focus of this combination. The harmonies are a mix of traditional blends with dextrous leaps in an out of conventional third and fifth harmony to create a fluid interaction that excites the listener's ear.
Richard plays the Flute and Flugel Horn providing the instrumental colour of a full band to enhance the duet beyond the limitation of two musicians. He has played with the bands Neon Quaver, Cheek ta Cheek and many other combinations of Jazz, Rock and other musicians in New Zealand and overseas.
Richard and Gary’s music will entertain and soothe; the listener will experience the relaxed, rich and accessible music that has made this combination a success with all their audiences. You will be bathed in an acoustic rendition of Lou Reed’s Walk on the Wild Side and then amazed with nostalgia as you experience Sad Movies bringing the urge to join in the chorus out of you. Sumptuous.
