Science fiction and horror coalesce in a suspenseful retelling of the vampire myth.
The parallel vampiric sub-genre has had quite the workout of late. Perfect Creature is a Kiwi entry that stakes its place in the crowded field thanks to an intriguing mythology and an admirable level of ambition in the production design. Better rounded, less glum heroes would’ve given audiences more to sink their fangs into, but this is still miles ahead of the vapid vamping of the Underworld franchise.
