Words on a Small Island, the inaugural Waiheke Literary Festival.

Come to Waiheke Island for an inspiring two days in the company of award-winning authors, playwrights, non-fiction writers and performing poets. Over two days there is a wonderful variety.

Thursday 29 October, start with a coffee at the Book Club cafe then entertaining storyteller Tanya Batt opens the festival. Uncover our culture with Kiwiana expert Richard Wolfe followed by Christopher Johnstone and Stanley Palmer with East at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery.

On Thursday afternoon, enjoy The Mudbrick Literary Lunch with acclaimed playwright Roger Hall, respected foodie Lauraine Jacobs, then stay on to discover why we love villas with Jeremy Hansen talking about his book Villa; From Heritage to Contemporary.

On Friday 30 October action is based at Waiheke's Artworks, starting with award winning Janet Hunt and Waiheke first book fiction writer Dorothy Fowler. Join Alexa Johnson for A Second Helping along with Carole Beu, plus award-winning writers Kate de Goldi, and Waiheke’s own extraordinary storyteller Tanya Batt. Closing the festival in the nearby Art Gallery will be Ron Sang, and a performance by poet Selina Marsh.

Come to the island, enjoy the festival for both days, alternatively a morning or a single day. The festival hub is easily accessible, close to ferry and Oneroa village and beach. Be inspired with tempting books to recline in a deckchair with over summer, book sales at Artworks and the Book Club Cafe along with entertainment.

Book full day Thursday and/ or full day Friday or choose a morning or afternoon. Check the full program PDF available on the website.
