What: Fantastic new band "Beyondsemble" are playing at Artworks Theatre for 1 night only on Saturday October 3rd at 8 p.m.
The Beyondsemble is a new band playing some of the most exciting and enchanting acoustic music to come out of NZ in recent times. Specialising in diversity they cover a vast scope of styles including, Gypsy, Eastern European, Latin, Tango, Pop, Jazz, Swing, Rocksteady, Bluegrass and Celtic Music. An eclectic mix of tunes and songs both original and sourced from around the globe executed with virtuosic skill, passion, energy and joy. Music to move you and make you move.
The Band consists of Craig Denham (Mamaku Project, ex-Ardijah, Club Manouche, etc....) on Accordion, Keyboards, Vocals and Whistles, Jess Hindin (The Exiles, Tim Beverage, Boh Runga, etc....) on Violin and Keys, Chris Koole (The Warners!) on home made percussion and Mark Mazengarb on guitars and bouzuki.
Why: Craig is a regular to Waiheke Island working for a number of years with storyteller Tanya Batt and being resident musician for the Once Upon and Island storytelling festival for many years. He also has played on the island in latin band Santiago at The Jazz festival and has a number of friends on the island. He performs regularly in the city and has been hit up by local Waihetians on a number of occasions to come out and do a gig with his new band. The band is working on new material for a tour of NZ commencing mid November and thought it would be great to come out to Waiheke and play it all in front an appreciative audience.
Unique: In addition to playing tunes from our set the band likes to go completely live and compose music on the spot in response to a suggestion from the audience.
