Scrabble board - over 16 metres squared! You never know - a famous face may just pop in for a game...

Primary and intermediate school students from around Auckland will participate in the Gifted Education Centre Giant Scrabble competition to help raise awareness for giftedness. The event has been generously sponsored by Mattel with top score and spot prizes being awarded on the day.

The competing teams of students will create their own 1m x 1m Scrabble tiles inspired by a nominated “tall poppy”, who will be invited to become their team mentor. New Zealand's number one Scrabble champion, Howard Warner, will be on hand to give tips to these aspiring young Scrabble players.
