Hanno Rol, 'Harmony in Colour'

Johannes ‘Hanno' Rol is a Dutch born painter trained at the Rijks Academie, Amersterdam.

Rol's creativity lives within the parameters of light. Rol is depicting messages of the old masters with exquisite flair. The layering of oil lends a luminosity which forms shape, shadow and depth to still life arrangements so poised and eloquently interpreted it seems they are sculpted in the surface of his canvas.

Rol has a timeless edge, the paintings create a thirst in the viewer for more to unfold, to understand the concepts of the painter, and to reach into the intellectual basis of these artworks.

Where there is light borders are created between sweeps of colour and shadow. We can find the introspective nature of the creator applying passion and nostalgia to the deepest areas of the composition. His continued search for harmony is expressed through a brilliance of colour, exploring forms of the landscape and the figure and still life in oil, watercolour and pastel.
