The Aroha Music Society invites you to another exciting concert in our current series:
The Splendour of Guitar - from Bach to Piazzolla to Jazz featuring Peter Doublinszki in a solo recital of some of the finest pieces in the guitar repertoire.
Tuesday, 13 October
As usual, the concert will take place at 7:00 pm in the
Frontline Venue, 119 Hone Heke Rd, Kerikeri
Peter moved to NZ two years ago from his native Hungary and is well-known to Northland audiences from the many marvellous solo performances and concerts (with Matteo Napoli, Lilia Carpinelli, Flavio Villani and Clare Penny, among others) given during his recent period as guitar tutor on the faculty of the Kerikeri School of Music.
Peter is now performing and teaching in Auckland full-time, so we are delighted to have this rare opportunity to hear his graceful and powerful playing again, in music ranging from the baroque intricacies of Bach and the symphonic classicism of Giuliani, through the hypnotic exoticism of Domeniconi and the haunting tangos of Piazzolla, to the contemporary jazz-inspired sounds of Roland Dyens.
This will be a concert with something for everyone, a concert of contrasts and beauty by one of our modern masters of the guitar.
As usual, the cost will be $20 for adults, and free for students and children.
Peter's programme will be:
Mauro Giuliani: Grand Overture
J.S. Bach: Sonata in G minor, BWV 1001
Roland Dyens: Libra Sonatina
- Interval -
Carlo Domeniconi: Koyunbaba (Ist & 4th movements)
Astor Piazzolla: Verano Portena
Primavera Portena
La Muerte del Angel
Roland Dyens: Three Jazz Arrangements:
Felicidade
All Of Me
Take the 'A' Train
We hope to see you at the concert. For further information, phone (09) 401-7083.
Reese Helmondollar (on behalf of the Aroha Music Society)
