Music by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Scarlatti & others. Presented by Aroha Music Society.
featuring Matteo Napoli - piano; Lilia Carpinelli - soprano; Flavio Villani - piano
and the eclectic early music ensemble - Saltarello
Presented by candlelight in the intimate ambience of a gracious home, this will be a concert of elegant performances of music of the utmost grace and charm. From the gaiety and magic of the dances of the Renaissance and Baroque, through the delicate intricacies of the piano works of Bach, Scarlatti and Galuppi, to the sacred and secular tapestry of the vocal masterpieces of Vivaldi and Handel, this extraordinary period of music will be brought to life by the consummate artistry of this wonderful group of musicians.
Well-known to local audiences now from their many concerts in Kerikeri and around New Zealand over the past two years, Matteo Napoli and Lilia Carpinelli have added the acclaim and affection of New Zealanders to that of their international admirers. They continue to pursue a busy career, both here and overseas, recording and teaching, as well as performing in solo, ensemble, orchestral and choral repertoire. Their compatriot Flavio Villani joined them here from Italy last year and has rapidly built a following of his own as a solo performer, teacher and pianist with a touring NZ musical theatre company. Saltarello, led by virtuoso recorder player Sue Riehle, an American based in Kerikeri, has grown in size and stature over the past two years, and its eclectic blend of recorders, flutes, violins, cellos, guitar and percussion brings the delights of the early music repertoire to the Northland musical community.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear these brilliant musicians performing both familiar and unfamiliar works in an unforgettable setting.
The programme will include:
JS Bach: Two-part Inventions
Domenico Scarlatti: Sonatas
Baldassaro Galuppi: Sonatas
Antonio Vivaldi: Sposa son disprezzata
Domine deus (from 'Gloria')
GF Handel: Ombra mai fu
Lascia ch'io pianga
A selection of Early Music dance pieces
