Hawke’s Bay Ukulele Festival with the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra

Schools from around Hawkes Bay performing in the Plaza, joined by the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra for a couple of numbers.

Mike Dickison author of Kiwi Ukulele: The New Zealand Ukulele Companion will be selling his book and offering free workshops in the Plaza on:
Saturday 17th Oct at 11am - Absolute beginners ukulele workshop
1pm - Intermediate ukulele workshop: lean some fancy strums

Record Breaking Attempt
Saturday 17th Oct, Plaza at 12.00 midday – ‘The Largest Ukulele Ensemble’ Guinness World Record Attempt. The songs to learn for this record attempt are:

Ten Guitars

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra
Eleven Ukuleles, a double bass, and a dozen strummers combine to cause a sensational and regularly undignified scrabble for tickets whenever they appear across the land. Renowned for their sing-a-long favourites, stunning dress sense, blazing solos, this group’s homage to music’s proudest and most important instrument is lovingly interpreted in hit songs across the musical generations.
