Shogun and The Groove Guide presents The Ataris 2009 NZ Tour.

-----------

There was a time when punk rock was all about national anthems of broken heart triumphs and busted dime-store telecasters. Throwing out your heart on your flannel sleeve and howling at the moon.
The scene’s different now; over-run by weeping amateur hairdressers with the Goth virus and cheap Maybelline scars.

But there are those that remember the glory days - the working class heroes of the hard luck tale…

Born in the back of a broke-down van, The Ataris carved out a niche as cornerstones of the Indiana scene; delivering the American Dream in the form of good, victorious rock ‘n’ roll. Their 2003 breakthrough album “So Long, Astoria” thrust them to the fore of the pop-punk world, reaching #20 on the Billboard charts and giving a super-charged second life to Don Henley’s ‘Boys of Summer’.

Now on the verge of their much anticipated 5th studio album ‘The Graveyard of the Atlantic’, The Ataris are bringing the sound of the glory days down under in an extensive New Zealand tour. No gimmicks, no hysterics – just the heart-felt working class songs of enigmatic front man Kris Roe and his cohorts. Renowned for their blood, sweat and tear-soaked live performances, an Ataris show is a musical catharsis and a welcome return to a genre’s halcyon days.
