Brave has devised and written four successful plays, one of which toured internationally to the Edinburgh Fringe.
Steel Ballerina is based on the life of the great Ballerina Margot Fonteyn. At age 40 the ballet world expected Fonteyn to retire but the introduction of Rudolf Nureyev inspired her to continue dancing for another 15 years.
It explores ideas of creative expiry (at what age are we supposed to be past our used by date), creative genius, discipline and the duality of performance and life. As contemporary artists many of the questions that affected Fonteyn are still extremely relevant.
Experience classical and contemporary dance, combined with character storytelling to weave a visually beautiful and moving story about dance.
The creative team for Steel Ballerina comprises of actor and producer Mel Dodge, dancer and choreographer Pagan Dorgan, director Jacqueline Coates and co-choreographer Bronwyn Bennett.
