Antiquities @ Ascension Wine Estate

Have you ever thought about how the ancient Greeks and Romans quaffed their favourite tipple?

The ancient Mediterranean civilizations enjoyed wine as much as we do and had the same pleasure of vineyards growing prosperously all around them.

A free and fascinating exhibition of wine related antiquities, some as old as 5000 years, will be on display at Ascension Estate in Matakana over the weekend of 18/19 October.
We tend to drink wine from glasses in the 21st Century but several millennia ago painted pottery wine cups and glass beakers were de rigueur. These pieces, along with large & finely decorated pottery kraters (which were used for mixing wine with water), wine dippers and a number of other wine related antiquities dating from 3000 BC - 500 AD will be on display and for sale at this very special exhibition.
These genuine antiquities will be presented by Robert and Jenny Loosley of Antiquarius, London trained experts who have been dealing in such pieces over the last 30 years as members of the British Antiquities Dealers Association .
