DIMMER take their new album Degrees of Existence back to the streets in October. The band take on their first southern dates of the season as well as Dimmer’s first foray over the Harbour Bridge in many years.
And Shayne Carter has upped the ante by putting together a ridiculously tasty line-up of bands for these shows.
First up at the Masonic in Devonport on 10 October, Dimmer are joined by The Naked and Famous. Dimmer last played on the Shore many years back to a crowd of knitting nanas at a Labour Party conference. This will be different.
In Dunedin on Friday 16 October, supports are the ferocious Mountaineater and youngsters Brains, who we may as well call the Bored Games of the moment.
In Christchurch the following night it’s a rare treat as the Dead C join Dimmer at Al’s Bar.
And on their return to Auckland at Bacco on Saturday 24 October, James Duncan will be showcasing his brand new band and tunes from his outstanding Hello-fi album
Degrees Of Existence has been on the receiving end of a pile of great reviews around the place.
“An album that swings neatly between tension-and-release throughout, and one that also feels like Carter's most fully realised yet…. that may well prove a career best” crowed the NZ Herald.
Influential American bloggers, RCRDLBL praised the latest Dimmer video for ‘Cold Water’ as something to “remind you just how much can be done with the medium… sounds a little like Radiohead if they loosened up and just wrote a rock song, the way-underwater adventure of a salvage diver who goes a bit too deep and falls into something heavier than the ocean.”
And it’s not just Dimmer songs that have been getting an airing in the Dimmer live set. Check this blistering take on ‘Machine Song’, Gordons fans…
