The SMP ensemble presents the third of three concerts celebrating the past and present music of Polish composers. They are also inspired by the 65th anniversary of the arrival of the Pahiatua refugee children in Wellington after their long and arduous journey from war-torn Europe, as well as the 20th anniversary of the end of the Cold War.

Works for soloists, chamber ensembles and string orchestra by composers such as Gorecki, of Symphony of Sorrowful Songs fame) Penderecki, Lutoslawski as well as new commissions (Carol Shortis, Karlo Margetic, Simon Eastwood and Anton Killin).
