Realising the entire beauty of Jean Sibelius’ Luonnotar song cycle demands a singer of stupendous ability and Scandinavian soprano Solveig Kringelborn has made this music her own. With a voice described as ‘incandescent’ by Opera News, she will also perform songs by Edward Grieg, including the bell-like Solveig’s Song from the Peer Gynt suite. A giant of the conducting world, Leif Segerstam takes the podium on a programme that also features Brahms’ Symphony No 4 and Cree-Brown’s radiant Icescape.
