Nadene Pita launches her haunting and highly eclectic debut album Turning Arrows into Flowers at Happy this Thursday night. Nadene is a singer, viola player and composer based in Sydney and is playing in Wellington for one night only. Abel Cross from Sydney plays bass and local drummer Reuben Bradley bring together their collective expertise to make this a memorable night.
“Rarely does a new voice of such originality and unusual approach appear. ... Pita’s voice is plaintive, ethereal and evocative of misty dawns on Asian Temples.
Pita trained as a viola player in jazz and classical music, and adds the viola to several of her Zen-like originals"
John McBeath, The Australian, August 29, 2009
“... free of artistic hesitation and a blissfully unusual composer, ... a poignant expose on the character of this enigmatic Sydney singer.”
Aidan Roberts, Alternative Media. September 15, 2009
"... when Pita and her assorted musicians really let fly, (the music) can head off into the stratosphere."
Adrian Elmer, Cyclic Defrost. September 15, 2009
The Melancholy Babes from Wellington will be the supporting act on the night.
Nadene's album Turning Arrows into Flowers will be available for sale on the night.
