The Buzzcocks are quite simply one of the most important and influential bands of all time. Buzzcocks are one of the founding fathers of punk rock, the pioneers of independent record labels, and have released the greatest stream of punk pop singles of all time.
In March 1978 the Buzzcocks released their debut album Another Music in a Different Kitchen and, in the process, created the template for pop-punk and a thousand imitators everywhere. Six months later, Buzzcocks released Love Bites the more progressive but equally infectious follow-up that reached #13 on the UK charts.
In January 2009 Buzzcocks announced the ‘Another…... Bites' tour performing both classic albums in their entirety and selling out an entire UK tour. Add in some bonus non-album tracks and you have the perfect Buzzcocks set-list, the perfect gig.
Solid Entertainment are proud to announce the Buzzcocks: Another..... Bites tour will be calling in at Bodega in Wellington on Friday November 13th.
Following their appearance at Southern Amp festival in Christchurch on 12th November this will be a once in a lifetime chance to hear this set and see the band in such intimate surroundings.
Across the two albums are some of the genuine classics of the punk-era including Orgasm Addict, What Do I Get, Autonomy, Oh Shit, Fast Cars, Get On Your Own, Sixteen Again, Just Lust and the crossover anthem Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldnt've). Need a reminder of their greatness? Then check these youtube goodies:
Playing loud and fast, like guys half their age, we're treated to pop-punk gold in abundance. In fact, with Boredom, Ever Fallen in Love, I Don't Mind and plenty more, there seems to be too many brilliant songs - add co-front person Steve Diggle's wild stage gyrations, arm swinging and pointing, and the evening's tumultuous (erm) climax Orgasm Addict leaves the crowd exhausted but thrilled. Mojo Magazine June 2009
Original Buzzcocks, Pete Shelley & Steve Diggle will be joined by bassist Chris Remington and drummer Danny Farrant and the magic and thrill of these two albums will be heard in their entirety. It’s the spirit of punk, it’s the history that made the future, it’s a a dream gig. Do not miss.
