Trust Porirua City Brass are proud of being consistently in the top of the B Grade in New Zealand - and we’ve won many a Wellington District Champion Brass Band competition. In 2008 we were runners up in the B Grade Championship of NZ, 2006 we were 3rd, runners up in 2005 (Wellington), and winners in 2004 (Christchurch). Additionally the band, as well as the Porirua Youth Brass, have won overall honours at the Wellington District Solo & Party contest, over the last few years and are looking forward to next years up and coming contest. Altogether an outstanding record of achievement by a dedicated group of musicians, ably led by Musical Director Kerry Garrett, whom, while rising to the challenge of the contest stage really relish the opportunity of entertaining in a concert environment.

Wellington Bone Company

The Wellington Bone Company is a play on words ( the slang for Trombone being Bone) the group features 4 trombone’s (yes four trombones) with rhythm section and special guest the sensational vocalist Erna Ferry.

The group is lead by New Zealand trombone/jazz/big band/music educator icon Rodger fox with the material being performed featuring arrangements from the CD featuring Rodger & Erna in concert with the University of Oklahoma Trombone Choir plus the very best from the famed J & K Trombone groups - that’s JJ Johnson and Kai Winding.
