The Raglan Arts Centre presents a series of Clay Art Workshops for Summer Table and Garden with Clare Wimmer during November.
The foundation of this clay art hand building workshop will concentrate on the use of slab to construct tiles, vessels, sculptures and press moulded platters. Other handbuilding techniques will be taught which best fit the works which the participants wish to produce. Decoration techniques will include the use of coloured slips with a clear glaze finish, texture and the use of oxides. The firing options will either be midfired electric kiln or raku.
Raku is a fast firing technique using glazes, which melt at 900 degrees. The firings take approximately one hour from start to finish and you will see fascinating results on decorative work. We will be working with special clay, which can withstand the temperature shock. So start pulling out those funky garden magazines and get some ideas!
Spaces are limited and supported through the ACE at Wintech, 12 hours of classes plus materials and firing for only $69.
Please book on 07 825 0023 or email: jacqueline@raglanartscentre.co.nz.
