“Towards the end of creating work for my last exhibition (Enter), the elusive images present in many of my paintings changed. They became more overt and more fully realised. Figures began to form.
Working with layers of paint and texture and painting intuitively meant that the gender, era and demeanour of each one would be unknown before I began. The figures that emerged and evolved often created a sense of surprise and delight for me and are a continuation of my journey of discovering the joys of painting with light”.
-Tina Frantzen
Tina Frantzen’s latest work is intimate, elusive, subtle and emotive; you can’t help but discover odysseys of your own in the strange corridors and courtyards hinted at before you. Their intrigue is delightful and it remains the artist’s intention you find in them what you will.
There is always a wealth of mystery to be found in Tina’s work; the figures appearing in ‘Echo’ glow in their own right, forming their own sense of atmosphere. We are left searching for something in the dark corners, seeing only the glimmer of an ornate robe, or the feathery head-dress of some elusive warrior.
