How much do you know about the fortunes of Taranaki? What was the name of Taranaki’s first Jersey cow? What happened to New Plymouth’s trams? Who saved the Meeting of the Waters? Find out the answers to these and more at Puke Ariki's latest exhibition 'Taranaki Fortunes: lost and won'.

Taranaki Fortunes traces the ups and downs of our region – rich in opportunity but often challenged by circumstances and events. War, recession, topography and isolation meet robustness, resourcefulness, doggedness and ingenuity and that Taranaki spirit that makes our region unique.

Test your knowledge about Taranaki’s fortune on our brand new interactive computer game ‘Who Wants To Win A Fortune’. It’s based on the TV show ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ and follows the multi-choice question and answer format – with all the answers found in the exhibition.

There are six computers set up with the game and you don’t need any prior computer knowledge so head down and give it a go!

Puke Ariki is open seven days a week except Christmas Day.
