Jean Sibelius’ darkly coloured Karelia Suite and Wagner’s Meistersinger prelude provide a soaring introduction to Strauss’ Four Last Songs. Perhaps the most beautiful music ever written, this elegiac music will find full expression in the brilliant voice of Solveig Kringelborn. The Birmingham Post described her Strauss performances as ‘simply radiant’. Acclaimed conductor Leif Segerstam conducts the evening which includes his own spectacular Symphony No 191.
