Bang Gang Bio …

Good ship Bang Gang has been sailing the seven seas of sin and traversing endless dimensions of dance for nigh on 6 years now, and quite the mind trip it's been. Since their humble beginnings in a forgotten Kings Cross strip club, when none of them bar Ajax could DJ and the one thing they all had in common was a handle on getting completely off the handle, the rise to their status now as Australia's premiere DJ collective and respected peers to the techno elite the world over has been a long and sleepless one. The Bang Gang Deejays notoriety has been justly gained through several years of throwing simple the best parties in the country and by effortlessly throwing down any style of music a situation might require, so long as it jams.

Now half a dozen years into their expedition to enlightenment through the ritual of dance and Ajax, Beni, Dangerous Dan, Jaime Doom, Gus Da Hoodrat and Double Nolan show no desire to relinquish the rave. In 2009 their most recent mix opus, D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing will continue the success that kicked off with it's Australian release in 2008 with an international release and tours of the UK & Europe, North and South America, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore. D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing is the second double-disc mix compilation to be released on Modular Recordings, the first being 2006's expansive mind-warp, Light Sound Dance.

Bang Gang 12inches, the record label run by the troupe and primarily overseen by Gus Da Hoodrat and Jaime Doom, continues to dig up Australia's heaviest new dance music producers and expose them to the universe, with label stalwarts Bag Raiders set to release their debut album in 2009 and a
Bang Gang 12inches retrospective/rarities compilation in the forecast.

They've also put their money where their mouth is and taken their hand to remixing and production under the Bang Gang banner, chalking up stellar mixes for New Young Pony Club, Soft Tigers and most recently The Presets. Ajax is buying clubs and cadillacs, running his own record label, Sweat It Out, and running around the country as Australia's premiere DJ superstar, while Dangerous Dan's hands are full running an interstellar fashion empire. Beni, formerly of Riot In Belgium, formerly DJ Damage, formerly Bumpin' Benny B has been flat out changing his DJ name every 3 days and releasing one of the years biggest club jams on Kitsune, My Love Sees You, and Double Nolan continues to work as Ksubi's art director and throwing the occasional Gay Bash party in Sydney. Tomb upon tomb could be filled with the tales these merrymaking mavericks have weaved over the last 6 years, and if the average civilians eyes could see what they've seen they'd likely be horrified and thunderstruck in equal measures. But so long as the people continue to want to move, they're not about to stop their service.

Thanks to Epaulette, Red Bull, Serato, Daniel Le Brun, Cheeseontoast, Crowded Elevator, 1AM Magazine, Cassette Number Nine, DJ Hero, Bang Gang 12”
