The works in 2nd Nature arise from Lianne's interest in the natural environment and how it is affected by the relationship between nature and culture. Postage stamps featuring images (reproductions) of nature are (re)used in these works; images at least once removed from nature itself.
Many of the world's environmental problems have stemmed from our longstanding attitudes towards nature, that humans have dominion over nature, hence in order of prominence but not necessarily importance: 1st culture, and 2nd nature.
