He’s been often cited as the ‘nice guy’ of entertainment in the United States, but multi Emmy award winning Wayne Brady will have you gagging for laughter as he Makes S%!t Up from May 2nd as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival.

The star of Whose Line Is It Anyway and Don’t Forget The Lyrics is well known for his improvisational genius, unique musical talents and limitless impersonation skills. An extremely versatile entertainer, Brady’s show is structured in classic old-time Variety style, incorporating improv, singing and even dancing.

Brady’s appeal is far reaching – from stage and screen to music and television. A three time Emmy award winner, talk show host, musician and actor, it was his works on Whose Line Is It Anyway that brought the lovable and playful Florida native to everyone’s attention.

From that, the offers started flooding in – hosting talk show The Wayne Brady Show, taking to the stage in the Broadway production of Chicago as slick lawyer Billy Flynn, working alongside the likes of Drew Carey in The Drew Carey Show, Tina Fey in 30 Rock and Chris Rock in Everybody Hates Chris.

Brady still found the time to pursue just one of the many strings to his bow – last year, he released his debut R&B album, the suitably named A Long Time Coming. Brady continues to combine his passion for music and television as the current host of Don’t Forget The Lyrics.

He’s also remembered for putting his squeaky-clean image aside from one moment during an episode of Chappelle’s Show, the hit Comedy Central series and uttering the immortal line “Is Wayne Brady going to have to choke a b****?”

Thankfully, the only choking will be from the laughter you can expect from someone who is essentially “the whole darn package.” So why miss out?

It's very frustrating to make up things - only to find that one day they really exist, and you didn't patent the idea. I remember once (ok, back in the early 60's) sitting in the back of our car pretending to talk on a telephone that just happened to be sitting there - you know, the old sort with a dial - I really thought I had some people fooled, from the looks they gave me. I also 'invented' being able to pay bills over the telephone, turn on appliances and open doors by remote control, the list goes on. I've made up lots of things that don't exist yet but I won't be surprised when they do!

would love to take my son who as he has grown has consistently made up words or read words incorrectly that are very funny. Used to call oats as in porridge "otters" and pronounces unique as "uni-q". He has a lovely sense of humour for such a young man and would find wayne very amusing I'm sure.

During my College days my friends and I would often make prank phone calls to our teachers. One particular day, we made a phone order for Pizza to be delivered to a teacher we didn't like. We were phoning from a house directly across the road from her house. The pizzas got delivered & a $hit$torm soon broke out. Little did we know that phone calls back then were able to be traced if you're on the phone for a certain period of time. In the end, we got busted, had to pay the pizza company, apologise to both parties in person, and I was grounded and banned from that pizza store.

A story, a day, a creative stay. Young minds come alive, when the truth goes awry. So each day I create, and challenge their minds. Giving make believe a chance to thrive.

I had a few words I made up as a kid, coz I didnt know what they were called, Like I called overtaking "passover" as in the jewish holiday, and the insinkerater was "the Grump-a-lly" and maseration of the skin after a bath was called the crink-a-llies. I am less creative with my making s#*! up now tho.

I am a 45yo virgin with 3 children (all the result of immaculate conception) named Mary, Madonna and Jesus. Unfortunately only the last can walk on water, but damn, we love the fresh snapper he brings home!!

My worst ever made up line: "My name is Antigone. My parents really liked the Greek Classics." What a geek! The guy didn't believe me for a minute. But it did make it easier for him to believe the made-up name my friend gave. Can't remember what it was, so it definitely wasn't as memorable as mine.

When I was in highschool & into writing to penpals I found (in that Tearaway mag that used to go round schools) 3 guys that were friends & advertising for penpals. I wanted to write to all 3 so I pretended to be triplets and wrote to them all individually using different handwriting & paper! I even posed for pics to send to them wearing different clothes & did my hair different so I would look like 3 different, but kinda the same, girls. I kept it up for about a year but when they wanted to come down from up North & meet us all I freaked & just stopped writing to them all! Hehe

Once, a long time ago, I was leaving a sneak preview of ET, the new Speilberg movie about to be released. When I noticed that there were some people outside the theatre trying to hear what the people who had seen it were saying, to try to find out more about the film, I turned to my date and said, "I think it was really a mistake to make it a musical."

I make up my mind, then change it, then make it up again, then go back to a previous decision, or modify it slightly ... and only sometimes informe others (eg partner) of all these steps along the way. It makes for total confusion in the eyes of others, but I don't have a problem with it!
