Ceol Aneas (Ke-ol an-ass) is New Zealand's Irish music festival, based in Nelson, New Zealand. It is one of Australasia's major Irish music gatherings, attracting, musicians and traditional Irish music lovers from around New Zealand and overseas. 2009 is our tenth anniversary and to celebrate we have an extra special guest line up with the band Gráda from Ireland. The band is; Gerry Paul (guitar), David Doocey (fiddle), Stephen Doherty (flute), Nicola Joyce (vocals) and Andy Laking (Bass). Guests from Australia, Adrian Barker (fiddle) and John Meredith (flute) will be joined by New Zealand guests, Duncan Davidson (accordion) and Alex Davidson (whistle). World renowed irish Guitarist Jim Murray, has just joined the tutors lineup for Ceol Aneas. Jim has played with Sharon Shannon, Seamus Begley and many other top Irish Music performers.
The Ceol Aneas 2009 programme features concerts, a ceilidh dance, instrumental tuition, meet the artist workshops and numerous ‘sessions' around Nelson, running on into the small hours. More information available on Ceol Aneas website.
