Rosa Shiels last notable concert appearance was for the 2008 Christchurch International Jazz and Blues Festival.

Rosa released a live concert recording with Graham Wardrop some years ago and has recently released her first solo album.

In this concert for the Folk Club she will present folk-rock, country and jazz-tinged originals from her album, as well as old-favourite traditionals and covers in a mix of genres.

Support act for this night is Ellie Schonfeld.

She's an accomplished reader of her own poems, but she remembers, "When I was first reading poems aloud, I was scared. 'It's a piece of my soul...' I was talking to a friend who said flippantly: 'It's just 10 minutes of your soul.' I try not to take it too seriously. Often life is hard; I think it's helpful to be able to laugh in the face of adversity."
