Rockonz Hall of Fame Awards Dinner & Charity Auction

The Rockonz Hall of Fame honours excellence in performers arising from the early Rock genre e.g. Rock 'n' pop, Rock 'n' Roll, Country Rock, Rockabilly. The ROCKONZ Hall of Fame Awards dinner will be held at the Christchurch Casino on Friday 16 May where Frankie Stevens will receive the 2009 Rockonz International Star Award from Mayor Bob Parker. Other artists to receive awards are John Clinton drummer of the award winning Aussie band "The Wolverines", Chet O'Connel award winning guitarist, Post humous award to Gary Thain bass player for Uriah Heep. Other awards will be announced on the night.
Deputy Mayor Norm Withers will be the auctioneer for the NZ Spinal Trust, Alan Bean Centre Charity auction where items with a musical connection will be put up for auction.
TV stars Shane Cortese (Rockonz Ambassador Award) and his wife Nerida will attend to support Chet O'Connell who will be performing with Shane the following night, on the ROCKONZ Eureka Rock and Retro Concert Dance at the Christchurch Town Hall.
