'Global movement of people that creates new sounds and new subcultures'
Debut album release by Zoh Zoh (Step By Step) introducing
R Yaw Boateng and his 8 piece band.
'Nomadic African' marks the first offering from Zoh Zoh. This album celebrates in New Zealand, the birthplace of the 'ZOH MUSIC' - fusion of African drum rhythms and Western brass instruments with guitar.
The music is influenced by Fela Kuti (Nigeria), Joseph Hill (Jamaica) and E.T.Mensah's (Ghana) Afro beat-jazz and old highlife songs. Most Zoh Zoh songs are in normal and street-English as spoken in West Africa. The drum rhythms and songs of Zoh Zoh are all original and mainly composed by Yaw Boateng.
World music scene take note: 'Nomadic African' marks a fresh new genre in African/New Zealand music. Nomadic African is a symbol of global movement of people that creates new sounds and new subcultures.
Composed and produced by R.Yaw Boateng.
