Award winning jazz diva, Whirimako Black is renowned for her “sublime and exceptionally expressive voice”.
A regular at festivals in New Zealand, Australia and Europe, her band for this Wellington performance features guitar maestro, Joel Haines, Oliver Holland (bass) and Ron Samsom (drums).
With songs in Te Reo Maori and English, this special presentation will include a selection of Maori songs from the WWII era. With six albums to her credit, Whirimako Black is a truly unique and powerful voice for Aotearoa.
Whirimako Black will be performing at the Ilott Theatre as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival.
