Often described as the ‘Polish Miles Davis’, trumpeter and composer Tomasz Stanko is legendary on the European jazz scene.
In 2002 he was awarded the inaugural European Jazz Prize. The rest of the world took note, The New Yorker calling him “one of the world’s most original and inventive jazz trumpeters”.
Stanko continues to travel the globe with his complex, yet delicate compositions collaborating with the likes of Cecil Taylor and Jan Garbarek.
Stanko is undisputedly a master and leader of European jazz.
The Tomasz Stanko Quartet will perform in the Pacific Blue Note (Wellington Town Hall) as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival.
