Mystery Girl and Galesburg are proud and delighted to announce Jim White and John Doe will be performing in Auckland and Wellington in March 2009. This tour marks the first time that the two alt-country legends have teamed up to co-headline a tour of New Zealand.

Jim White shot to fame as a walking talking icon of offbeat alt country music in the BBC documentary Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus and has since consolidated his place as a star of Southern gothic with two massively acclaimed albums Transnormal Skiperoo and Drill A Hole in That Substrate And Tell Me What You See. The soundtrack to the documentary has also been hailed as one of the top two alt-country releases of all time in Mojo magazine.

John Doe is the founding member of the legendary LA punk band X – and starred in a massively influential documentary on the early LA punk scene. The Decline Of Western Civilisation (which spawned the notorious Decline of Western Civilisation 2 – The Metal Years). Doe subsequently appeared in the film Paris Texas, and his musical career has been littered with critically adored albums that have spanned punk, rockabilly, roots, blues and pure country. His latest on-line only release The Golden State features a cover of his track The Golden State by Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder teamed with Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker, tucked in amongst four different Doe performances of the track.

Reviews for Jim White's "Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus

This album is a big wet dream of loss and isolation, sex and the search for grace. The songs that aren't set late at night, in a motel room that doubles as a jail, take place in the rain on some desolate highway, which might be the path of righteousness but goes nowhere. The phone booth to God is out of order, the radio plays nothing but scripture or static, and the girl in his bed doesn't want to redeem him but needs a ride to the Greyhound station. -Mojo

My vision of hope is that every child that spends time in my class can see the lifetime benefits of doing good, receiving good and dreaming of good for each other and our glorious environment and that they become parents sharing the same hope for many generations to come.

When my loutish teenage son brushes his teeth before he leaves the house (and I know this because his toothbrush is left out on the vanity beside a capless tube of toothpaste) I feel a brief surge of hope - hope that one day he will know how to take care of himself and leave home; hope that he will snag a girlfriend with his pleasant breath and leave home; hope that his shining dial will impress a modelling agency and earn him a ton of dosh to leave home. My hope is eternal...

The thing that gives me the most hope for the future, is now knowing I control my own destiny and doing everything I can to ensure my future is all I want it to be. Life is a wonderful journey if u plan the trip right.
