A 2008 Blues Awards nominee for Acoustic Artist of the Year, Eric Bibb grew up in a musical family that counted the likes of Bob Dylan as friends.
Influenced mainly by the American blues and folk tradition, elements of country, gospel and soul can also be heard, reflected in the roll call of musicians he’s recorded with, including Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt. He balances a fine finger-picking technique with rich, sensitive vocals and lyrics, creating a sound that is both intimate and assured.
Eric Bibb will perform in the Pacific Blue Note (Wellington Town Hall) as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival.
