The pinnacle of open fresh water paddling.
The Trans Taupo attracted 77 craft and over 100 paddlers to the inaugural event in 2008, challenging competitors to a 45km paddle race across the pure crystal mountain fed waters of NZ and Australasia’s largest freshwater lake.
A human powered journey from Tokaanu to Taupo, the Trans Taupo is open to Sea Kayaks, Surf Ski’s, Waka ama, and Ocean Rowers, with both a solo and a team relay categories.
