Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes will headline the next ‘a day on the green’ concert series in March 2009 at The Mudhouse Winery and Café in Waipara, Alana Estate Winery in Martinborough and Villa Maria Estate Winery in Auckland.

This mercurial performer is undoubtedly one of the most popular and best-loved singers, and over the past year he’s been delivering killer ‘a day on the green’ performances around Australia.

NZ crowd favourite’s The Feelers are also on this bill, ensuring another sensational array of music!

Jimmy has recently completed a six week tour of Europe including shows in England, Germany and France to support the release of his current album ‘Out In The Blue’ and is in red hot form. His set celebrates his 30-year career at the apex of Australian rock 'n' roll, and includes songs from ‘Out In the Blue’, the album written whilst he was recuperating from open heart surgery early in 2007.

The Sydney concert from the Australian ‘Out In The Blue’ tour is soon to be released on DVD, Jimmy’s ICON book has been so successful it is now in its third re-print and he is also continuing his work as a host with MAX TV. Early next year, Jimmy will take time off from touring to begin writing for his next studio album.

But it is on stage that Jimmy shines, and his enduring popularity is a testimony to his charismatic performances and amazing live shows. New Zealand - get ready to rock!

Nationally ‘a day on the green’ has continued its amazing growth in NZ, and is fast becoming one of NZ’s leading outdoor concert events. Coming into our 2nd year, we’ve only just begun to provide stellar winery locations for local and international artists to entertain us in.

Also on stage are NZ’s all-time touring heroes The Feelers. Playing an acoustic and ‘unplugged’ set, The Feelers are the band who has dominated the NZ music scene since their formation in the late 1990’s.

With a back catalogue full of so many monster hits and rock anthems, The Feelers are the perfect addition to make this a rock concert to remember.

A Day On the Green once again will bring you the best concert experience ever!

Remember, for a totally relaxing day, leave the car at home! Patrons are encouraged to pre-book on a coach to be collected from their accommodation or a nominated location.

Tickets on sale from Monday 15 December at Ticketmaster.

Thanks for the great "working man" comments, everyone. The winner for this great show is Chelle. Hoping you and your working class man have a great time!

Forget the denim, ignore the hair. For a true working class man look down. R M Williams for the Anzacs, Doc Martens for the poms. Honest, tough, hard wearing.

The best thing about a working class man would have to be the contribution he makes to the bank account (lol). As well as things like having a new circle of friends, stories, jokes, drinking mates, opinions etc.... which means when he comes home he gets to share all these things with me ( that is of course after he's had his unwind time & hasn't fallen asleep first from working of course),

The best thing about a working class man is how down to earth they are. Just your average kiwi bloke. No airs or pretences. My own working class man is a true blue Waiarapa lad thru and thru. I would LOVE to surprise him with tickets to see the man... the legend, Jimmy Barnes! My working class man is the bloke you see pull over to help someone stopped on the side of the road... he coaches a college rugby team... sponsers another kids team... Is forever lending a hand to a 'mate'. He works a 10-12 hour day every day... and I mean 'real man' work... grubby, grunty get down and get dirty hard labour work. He is a real life McGyver... can fix anything! He drives a ute, owns cowboy boots, and LOVES music from the 80's. My working class man, like any working class man, would give the shirt off his back to help anyone... so I reckon he deserves something back for a change... thanks for the opportunity! :-)

The best thing about a "working class man" is his crazy hair dew.... if his hair is semetrical...well that just sucks.

Although usually struggling to make ends met the "working class man" still has time for his family & mates.

Working class men (and gals) are the petrol in the tank that powers this country economically, socially - in all respects.

Working class men are great, they don't wince at the request to help a lady. Ask a working class man to shift a piece of furniture, or do a grease and oil change and they will do it!! A strong working class man makes a woman feel safe! Please please please I would love to see Jimmy Barnes live!!! xxx

My may works so hard as a builder and gets the benefits of being able to go surfing and have time off as he works for himself. He works hard and also is able to fix things for me since he is a real working class man - yeh. Oh pick us, what an amazing time it would be to go see him at alana estate. Thanks

My working class man - I love the most...

He works hard, to make his living - to take me to the movies, with dinner before hand of course!
And obviously he's a steel town deciple, blue overalls in his veins (he's an engineer after all)... I wouldn't say he was a legend of his kind, but he sure has some pretty legendary dance moves (bomchikawahwah)
He loves his little woman! Well, he loves me, be I little or not... someday he'll make me his wife? Well, you know... I've never really thought about that one (wink wink, nudge nudge)...

BUT HE IS A WORKING CLASS MAN... and for all the things he lacks (ie. running like a cyclone across the wild mid western sky, or believing in god and elvis (or that god IS Elvis), or being mad at Uncle Sam)... he's MY working class man, and what's not to love (especially so close to Valentines Day!)..

So the best thing about a working class man...is...
    THIS ONE IS MINE :p
