The Festival will be officially opened by a fantastic musical fair, guaranteeing a fun-filled day of music for the whole family to enjoy.

Kids will be well catered for, with a magical musical grotto featuring ‘StarFish Magic’, face-painting, balloon creations and a musical bouncy castle. Kids can also use their imaginations to create musical instruments out of recycled materials in a workshop with Andrew Hall. There will be performances from the resulting ‘junk orchestra’ throughout the afternoon, conducted by Jon Ellis, along with a special Ukulele painting competition.

Budding musicians also have a great reason to come along. Register at the fair to receive your free ‘Industry Support Pack’, containing the latest New Zealand Music Services Directory, and information from local recording and rehearsal studios, instrument and equipment makers to artist promotion, management and tuition.

Every registration goes into the draw to win the ‘Ultimate Industry Survival’ worth well over $2000, including a day at York Street Recording Studios, mastering at Kog and duplication of 50 fully packaged CDs at More Core Audio.

The Sweet and Sour Dance Crew from Kelston will perform for their fans at the music fair, fresh from winning the Best Dance Crew of 2008 at the World Hip Hop Championships.

The music fair will culminate with a highly energetic and colourful performance by The Mamaku Project.
