This is a barrel, or rather, a briefcase full of laughs from the moment birthday boy Henry Perkins swaps half a cheese and chutney sandwich for three-quarters of a million pounds when he inadvertently picks up the wrong briefcase on the tube train. Not believing his luck and desperate to leg it to a new life in Barcelona, Henry and his wife find their departure thwarted at every turn by a bent cop, a cocky cabby, crime bosses, and a couple from Clapham. This brilliant farce by Ray Cooney opened in London's West End in 1995 and this production, proudly staged in Auckland's West end and directed by Playhouse Theatre's Sheryl Watson, features an exciting local cast. Lose your recession depression for a couple of hours of frantic fun with this fast
paced 'Fawlty-esque' piece of farce.
