Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes will headline the next ‘a day on the green’ concert series in March 2009 at The Mudhouse Winery and Café in Waipara, Alana Estate Winery in Martinborough and Villa Maria Estate Winery in Auckland.

This mercurial performer is undoubtedly one of the most popular and best-loved singers, and over the past year he’s been delivering killer ‘a day on the green’ performances around Australia.

NZ crowd favourite’s The Feelers are also on this bill, ensuring another sensational array of music!

Jimmy has recently completed a six week tour of Europe including shows in England, Germany and France to support the release of his current album ‘Out In The Blue’ and is in red hot form. His set celebrates his 30-year career at the apex of Australian rock 'n' roll, and includes songs from ‘Out In the Blue’, the album written whilst he was recuperating from open heart surgery early in 2007.

The Sydney concert from the Australian ‘Out In The Blue’ tour is soon to be released on DVD, Jimmy’s ICON book has been so successful it is now in its third re-print and he is also continuing his work as a host with MAX TV. Early next year, Jimmy will take time off from touring to begin writing for his next studio album.

But it is on stage that Jimmy shines, and his enduring popularity is a testimony to his charismatic performances and amazing live shows. New Zealand - get ready to rock!

Nationally ‘a day on the green’ has continued its amazing growth in NZ, and is fast becoming one of NZ’s leading outdoor concert events. Coming into our 2nd year, we’ve only just begun to provide stellar winery locations for local and international artists to entertain us in.

Also on stage are NZ’s all-time touring heroes The Feelers. Playing an acoustic and ‘unplugged’ set, The Feelers are the band who has dominated the NZ music scene since their formation in the late 1990’s.

With a back catalogue full of so many monster hits and rock anthems, The Feelers are the perfect addition to make this a rock concert to remember.

A Day On the Green once again will bring you the best concert experience ever!

Remember, for a totally relaxing day, leave the car at home! Patrons are encouraged to pre-book on a coach to be collected from their accommodation or a nominated location.

Tickets on sale from Monday 15 December at Ticketmaster.

A working class man... That's a man that's not afraid to get his hands dirty, doesn't wear jewellery or need "Product", doesn't cook, unless it's a fry up after a night on the tiles, or burning sausages on the bbq. Family are important, and so are his mates. Loyal, hard working, hard playing and sometimes hard hitting (not to the family, just to help out mates in a scuffle). Gotta love them!

A working class man to me, while it's an older term, I believe that modern day perspectives need to be applied. He should be not afraid to get his hands dirty, wether that's outside in the work shop or helping around the house by scrubbing the bathroom. He should work hard but still be able to take that moment to be a good family man. He's in sporting terms what you would call an all rounder. And best of all.... he can fix anything with duct tape and a bit of WD40!

Mangere is a working class suburb & I should know because it's where this working class man grew up. Believes in things like TAB, league and mateship. Has a practical bent and can get on and do anything with No. 8 wire.

My husband Simon is the ultimate working class man !!!!
He works hard and plays twice as hard.
Rough, Tough and Tattooed on the outside.
Honest, realiable and loving on the inside.
    Great Dad, Great Mate xx

Back a few generations it sometimes meant "lower" class - but that's where my grandparents and parents came from - and proud of it. Honest work for honest pay , the salt of the earth - nothing handed to you on a plate like some young people expect these days.

Well he loves a little woman
    someday he'll make his wife
    saving all the overtime
for the one love of his life
    He ain't worried about tomorrow
cause he just made up his mind
life's too short for burning bridges
Take it one day at a time
Oh oh oh he's a working class man

Doesn't get any truer than that...

Honest and reliable - call a spade a spade, so you know where you stand with them. Not sophisticated in a catty sense of the word, but actually caring and with a heart of gold. Rough diamond would be the term to use to describe them.

This is a show I've been waiting years for. I've seen Jimmy play every kind of gig there is... except an open air venue like Villa Maria.

    I can't wait.
