The next generation of contemporary New Zealand actors take to the stage in 2009 in The Ensemble Project, building on the hugely successful AK07 incarnation that played to critical acclaim and capacity houses. Eight actors will be put through their paces by celebrated Auckland Directors Michael Hurst and Oliver Driver, creating two works that will then be performed in repertory during the Festival. Michael Hurst will direct Life is a Dream, an ‘excavated classic’ by Calderon de la Barca from the Spanish Golden Age that explores destiny, desire and illusion.

Auckland Festival 2009 brings the city alive next March with a dazzling programme of more than 200 arts and entertainment events, packed into eighteen exciting days. The biennial festival is a feast of theatre, dance, concerts, cabaret, exhibitions, family events and more, featuring some of the finest national and international artists and companies.

    Hmm.... What a disturbing pic.

I believe there is some destiny. You life follows a line but it's not like a string pulled tight. It's loose and can move this way and that depending on the change in the wind.

Geez that sounds corny once I read that again. Ignore me. sorry.
    :P Yep. *cough* disturbing pic.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, everyone. The person whose destiny includes going to see this fine piece of theatre is Katie Wilson-Whiting.

I believe "Destiny" is already mapped out for us, regardless of the choices that we make in life. One thing for sure is that we are all going to die at some stage. Hopefully before that destiny occurs we can ask ourself "did I do the best that I could have done during my lifes journey...could I have done better or done things differently?" only we have those answers within us...that is our destiny.

My sister is the one that believes in Destiny. She has gained a husband and two children, so far. On the phone it is still the same youthful and energetic voice.

Destiny is the kiss that holds all the promise of a joyuous future but youll never find your destiny unless your willing to open yourself up to that kiss!

Not being a girly girl I couldn't stand Brownies so ended up at Sea Scouts where a particular boy caught my young eye. He went off to boarding school and that seemed like that. But a chance encounter outside the Silo one night led to us getting together and we're now getting married. That makes me believe in destiny!

If two cars are heading towards one another at speed and neither of the drivers take evasive action - why is it "fate" or "destiny" that kills them? How about "stupidity" or "speed" or "alcohol". No, we're all masters of our own "destiny". As they say, shit happens - and so do plenty of good things..

I believe that destiny brings us opportunity and it is up to us to choose what we do with that opportunity. there is a set plan in our lives that helps influence our destiny!

Not sure that I believe in destiny. Much of what happens is either random or planned, but not destiny.

I believe in destiny because of the number of people I have met that i then reconnect with in later years somewhere completely different. Often our paths cross a number of times over the years. i believe that whatever paths in life we take somewhere down the track the 2 paths will cross over again so we always end up where were were destined to be.
