Magical and strangely beautiful, The Arrival is a must-see theatre production for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Shaun Tan’s award-winning graphic novel comes to life in a theatrical production that will delight and intrigue adults and children alike. Sophisticated puppet imagery, song and movement combine in an enthralling story of struggle and survival in a world of hardship, upheaval and hope. Brought to the stage By Red Leap Theatre (Kate Parker and Julie Nolan) The Arrival is a tribute to the journeys of immigrants, migrants and refugees throughout the world.

Auckland Festival 2009 brings the city alive next March with a dazzling programme of more than 200 arts and entertainment events, packed into eighteen exciting days. The biennial festival is a feast of theatre, dance, concerts, cabaret, exhibitions, family events and more, featuring some of the finest national and international artists and companies.

Hardships and struggles are no stranger to all of us at sometime in our lives, some more than others. Hope is available to us all. Changing the way we think will change our attitudes and our feelings - we just have to act upon our thoughts in the most positive ways that we have available to us. Believing that there is hope and never giving up or giving in to obstacles that may present themselves along the way. Being grateful for what you do have and not dwelling on what you don't. "Hope" is not wishing - it is Believing.

Being 43 and childless, my greatest hope for the future is my niece and her overdue sibling. They also represent the future for the whole family being the only grandchildren.

Today we face the trying times
    Of heartache and pain.
Many hopes and dreams are shattered,
And prayers seem to be in vain.
With the hope of peace diminishing,
The heart has no definitive song.
We've waited for an end to hostilities,
But the struggle seems so long.

Yet - there is hope for the future,
Liberty and freedom are still in command,
But God will make the ultimate decisions.
He will evaluate our worldly demands,
And he holds the future in his grasp.
    Why should we despair?
He mourns and counts every tear,
And he hears and reviews every prayer.
    Joseph T. Renaldi

Seeing kids playing together at school, regardless of skin colour, physical or mental disability and wealth - that gives me hope for a better future in the world - now we have to work on the adults.

My Children Give Me Hope for the Future, just had something similar happen that I loved - my 6 year old was making a picture of himself on the computer where he had a bunch of choices for all features. He called me over and asked me which skin color was his - light or dark - loved that he didn’t know the difference.

I always have renewed hope in humanity when I see people singing, making music together, playing in sports events - any activity where groups of people co-operate and have fun. Kids do this especially well so it would be great if politicians could take time out and become involved in these events.

What gives me hope? - Being alive! To use an old quote - where there is life, there is hope.
