This biennial event celebrates Scandinavian heritage, life and culture in New Zealand. It runs from March 27-29 2009 and offers craft and market stalls, cultural displays and seminars, folk music and dancing, games and family activities, and a gala Scandinavian dinner.
Overseas performers include the Danish/Swedish folk trio Faerd and the Melbourne Scandinavian Choir. There's also a parade of national costumes on Saturday morning, and a selection of Scandinavian films. The Auckland Norsemen (as seen at the 2007 Viking exhibition at the Auckland Museum) will be setting up camp on the lawn, demonstrating life in "Viking" times.
