Kairoa Glory - A Top Town Story
Kairoa. A quiet rural community with a big heart and a big chip on its shoulder. Kairoa, believed they should’ve represented the West Coast for Top Town 1990. However after some dodgy calculations, Greymouth was declared the winner.
What followed will forever be known as one of the darkest times in New Zealand’s sports and television history. 19 years on and Top Town is back… But what happened to Kairoa.
We look back and follow the story of the town, how it came to grips with the loss, the tragic events that surrounded the event, how it affected them then, how it is affecting them now and what their plans are for Top Town ’09.
A Mocumentative play about the changing face of New Zealand.
Created and Performed by Toi Trade Theatre Company. Directed by Glen Pickering.
Starring - Mark Leishman, Jeremy Birchall, Rachael Blampied, Daniel Coppersmith, Sarah Gallagher, Jonny Hair and Bronwyn Turei.
