PREMIER ART ORGY – Expand your horizons and refresh your senses: When did art die? Are there any original ideas left? Is Generation X merely a diluted Frankenstein of heroes past? How does environment influence our art?
Through the mediums of music, poetry and visual art the “Inhibition Exhibition” will afford you the opportunity to answer these questions yourself by exploring Auckland sub-culture and its effect on creative expressionism by confronting audiences with an overwhelming display of what modern life and being a part of, or apart from Auckland society means to these select kiwi artists.
“The Inhibition Exhibition” features live music from various seasoned solid acts that predominantly share similar influences, a kind of grunge/metal/punk mash up with a dash of cock rock and a twist of lemon. Poetry will also be performed by the accomplished poetry troupe the Literati. Think; Jack Kerouac, Henry Miller, Saul Williams sort of vibes. Lastly, an eclectic collection of budding local artists best pieces will be displayed.
Bare witness to a first of it’s kind social commentary that will challenge the convictions of your social surroundings by exposing your opinion and revealing your beliefs for better or worse, where issues of our generation will be captured and conveyed as an exhibition of inhibitions . . . because after all art is merely an avenue for the creative soul to express what under ordinary circumstances it could not articulate.
Auckland Fringe runs from 27 February to 22 March 2009.
