Danish/Swedish folk band Faerd will be performing in Auckland as part of the 2009 Scandinavian Festival, marking the beginning of their Australasian Tour.

Færd was launched in 2001 by Peter Uhrbrand and Eskil Romme, after touring the Faroe Islands. They discovered "a kind of basic Scandinavian musical material" which was nevertheless unique, and they toured New Zealand and Australia as a five-piece band in 2004.

By 2005 Faerd was the trio of fiddle and viola player Peter Uhrbrand, saxophonist/accordion player and vocalist Eskil Romme, and bouzouki, guitar player and vocalist Jens Ulvsand. Jens has brought an acoustic jazz and rock dimension to Faerd's traditional folk roots, and the group now perform composed and traditional music from all over the world.
