Attention all crew, this is the last Wednesday Alliance!!

Dont be too alarmed we will be doing more shows in the future, mostly Beats People Movement productions (and on the weekends) but this is the end of the Wednesday Dubstep era!

The last 12 months have been wicked, sore heads on Thursdays, what day is it again, the who goes out on the weekend anymore call, nuff special guests from around the globe, granny Herald and the Rascal stopping by on consecutive nights etc etc etc

Its really fitting that we have the one like RSD to send the Wednesdays off in a fine style and to send a biggups to OoGuN as he launches his upcoming label "Drunk Elephant Sound"..

RSD (Tectonic / Earwax / Punch Drunk / UK)

RSD, perhaps better known as Bristol bass and drum music stalwart Rob Smith (one half of respected production duo Smith and Mighty), has been pushing bass heavy rhythms for more than two decades. Under the moniker RSD, Rob Smith produces fresh, innovative bass music that simultaneously pays dues to his deep soundsystem roots while pushing things ever forward - he remains firmly at the forefront of Bristol's endlessly inventive music scene.

A key shaper of what has become known as the 'Bristol Sound'. Rob Smith has released music as Smith & Mighty, More Rockers, Blue & Red and RSD. His productions run from the rootsy, steppas vibes with traditional stabs and echo-chamber vocals to robust and menacing techier sounds. His tunes receive DJ support from Pinch, Distance, Cyrus, Appleblim, Joker, Peverelist and many more.

RSD gives a likkle history lesson..

"I started playing guitar in a reggae band in the early 80s and around 1985 I hooked up with Ray Mighty and formed the Three Stripe record label. We began releasing records as Smith & Mighty with a sound that was based on hip hop beats with reggae and dub treatments, often with female vocals and with a kind of sixties flavour using sampled string sounds and effects. As well as releasing our own singles, we were remixing other bands and also produced the first Massive Attack single Any Love. We were later joined by Peter Rose and in around 1994 we began DJing and releasing reggae and dub inspired jungle tunes as More Rockers. I also record as Blue & Red and, alongside Henry & Lewis, produced the Time Will Tell project featuring vocal performances from many of our Jamaican heroes like Johnny Clarke and Willie Williams."

Steppers will recognise RSD on Punch Drunk Records (Speekah Box, Jahway), Earwax ( Kingfisher - "the number one sound in town"), Ranking Records (The Evergreen gardener) among others, with a remix of Pinch's "Rise up" soon to come.

Support from Dubstep Alliance DJs OoGuN, Seeka & Shutta and Drunk Elephant guest Tommy Flowers

Hosted by Dapht One
