Rounds I and II see all 18 semi-finalists perform demanding programmes of solo and piano-accompanied works live. The field will be whittled down to just six for the third round in Auckland focusing on chamber music.
The winner of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition receives NZ$40,000, a CD recording on the Naxos label and a winner’s tour in 2010, with additional cash prizes for second to sixth and special prizes.
