The Lorraine Parnell Accordion Academy, Chris Powley & the Rose and Thistle Band presents "ACCORDIANA" featuring "Noteable Soundz in a prelude to the COUPE MONDIALE World Accordion Championships in August 2009.
The winds of competition are powering the bellows of a young South Auckland accordion group having been accepted to represent New Zealand in one of the world’s most prestigious international piano accordion events to be held in New Zealand for the first time in 29 years.
Noteable Soundz (the older group of The Lorraine Parnell Accordion Academy) comprises of of five teenagers from South Auckland, they are; Dan Robinson (14) of Drury, Bradley Williams (15) of Botany Downs, Martin Meyer (17) of Clevedon, Tamba Young (18) of Manurewa and Michelle Chander (20) of Manurewa.
This young ensemble has to be heard to be believed and continues to recieve praise on the emotion, depth and maturity of their play. Come and listen to their 20 min program that will be presented to the World at The 62nd CIA COUPE MONDIALE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION & FESTIVAL FOR ACCORDIONISTS
25th to 30th August 2009 to be held at the Bruce Mason Centre Takapuna, Auckland.
Lorraine has been teaching the accordion for 20 years and is a will known and accomplished accordionist herself.
Guest artists will include The acclaimed ROSE AND THISTLE SCOTTISH BAND and CHRIS POWLEY .Chris is a well known N.Z.entertainer , being credited with over 600 shows at the Sky City Casino. He has performed alongside the likes of Diamond Lil', Sir Howard Morrison and John Rowles and has toured extensively throught the world showcasing his talents.
