Artstation will celebrate Matariki with a Matariki community exhibition Pūmahara, on show from 24 June to 18 July.
Pūmahara is a mixed media installation curated by Natalie Couch and Janneen Love.
“This show is focussed on people coming together to make art in remembrance of our tipuna,” says artist and curator Natalie Couch.
The exhibition will highlight Matariki as an important time for art making. Artworks made during Matariki will be exhibited in this changing installation.
“Pūmahara is a shifting and changing installation of artwork from workshops held with the community at Artstation and the Auckland museum, “says artist and curator Natalie Couch.
The community will add artworks to this exhibition through Action Stations at the Auckland Museum and community school holiday programmes at Artstation during the Matariki period.
This collective installation will also include artworks made at kaupapa Maori workshops held at Artstation. These will be in a range of media including fired raku clay works and prints on paper.
Eleven artists will also showcase their art.
Visit www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/artstation for more information.
Pūmahara is part of Auckland's regional Matariki Festival 09. For information on all the events and activities happening during the festival visit www.matarikifestival.org.nz.
