Combine the five principal wind players from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra with Diedre Irons, one of our most revered pianists, and the result is an ensemble brimming with character and energy.
‘Isolating the lovely part of the orchestra’ is how Ed Allen describes the wind quintet combination – it’s the unique sound that has inspired many composers to explore their lighter side. Inspiration for Anthony Ritchie’s new work comes from his association with the landscape of Central Otago. Come hear these superb works from the heart of the repertoire for piano and wind instruments.
