The Black Seeds formed a decade ago and quickly developed a reputation as Wellington’s ultimate good groove band. With up to ten members The Black Seeds fuse dub, reggae and funk to form a unique Pacifica party sound. Instruments include vocals, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums, bongos, keyboard and wood block plus vocals led by Barnaby Weir. The Black Seeds have released five albums, most recently Solid Ground. Onstage, their ability to connect with their audience has gained them a reputation as one of New Zealand’s finest live acts.
Hikoikoi is an original six- piece reggae-soul-roots group based in Petone, with a sound that’s spreading through the hearts and minds of Aotearoa. They haveIt has played many festivals, released three singles last year and have just put out their a debut album.
